Pakistani government agencies have continued a large-scale demolition operation for a second consecutive day, targeting homes of Afghan migrants in a residential area of Karachi.<\/p>\n
On the first day of the operation, more than 300 houses were destroyed. According to local media reports, most of these homes were vacant and in a dilapidated condition, and were demolished using heavy machinery.<\/p>\n
Police forces and staff from the Ministry of Interior, along with members of the Malir Development Authority (MDA) and other relevant agencies, were actively present during the operation.<\/p>\n
Karachi police have warned that occupying government land is illegal and stated that the operation will continue until the area is fully cleared of \u201cunauthorized structures.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Pakistani officials describe the crackdown as part of the country\u2019s fight against illegal construction, the demolition of Afghan migrants’ homes on the brink of winter has raised serious humanitarian concerns.<\/p>\n
