The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Mullah Amir Khan Mutaqi, the acting head of the ministry, held a phone conversation with Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, to discuss recent regional developments. According to the ministry, the call focused on ongoing conflicts, tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and the situation in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, Mutaqi expressed concern over the region’s security situation and condemned what he described as “Pakistan\u2019s aggression against Afghanistan,” as well as attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran and the possibility of the war spreading to Gulf countries. He emphasized that the Taliban administration views respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity as a principle and prefers diplomacy over escalation of conflicts.<\/p>\n
These remarks come amid the Taliban administration\u2019s serious challenges concerning international legitimacy and formal relations with many countries, and to date, it has not been officially recognized by any country.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs stated that the region is going through a sensitive and difficult phase. He reported that missile and drone attacks from Iran targeting Qatar have been largely repelled.<\/p>\n
Al-Khulaifi added that Qatar has always considered itself a “home of peace” and stressed resolving conflicts peacefully through dialogue.<\/p>\n
