Yemen\u2019s armed forces announced on Thursday, October 24, that Major General Mohammed Abdul Karim al-Ghamari, the country\u2019s Chief of Staff, was killed during a military operation. The news was released through an official statement which described al-Ghamari as a senior military commander who lost his life while performing what was referred to as a \u201creligious and jihadist duty.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement emphasized that the path of conflict remains unchanged and that battles against what was termed the \u201cZionist enemy\u201d would continue, vowing that Yemeni forces would fight on until the \u201cliberation of Jerusalem.\u201d This rhetoric reflects the views of the Houthi movement, also known as Ansar Allah, which controls large parts of northern Yemen and is backed by Iran.<\/p>\n
Despite the loss of one of the group\u2019s highest-ranking military officials, Yemen\u2019s armed forces asserted that their military structure remains intact and that their operations not only continue but have intensified. The statement also confirmed the ongoing deployment of drones and missile strikes against what they identified as enemy targets.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the Houthi-affiliated Saba news agency reported that Major General Youssef Hassan al-Madani has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of Yemen\u2019s military, following an official decree.<\/p>\n
