The 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council has commenced at the UN headquarters in Geneva, with the participation of the UN Secretary-General, the President of the General Assembly, and senior international officials. Additionally, Richard Bennett, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Afghanistan, will deliver his latest report concerning the rights of women and girls\u2014a subject that has become one of the primary concerns of the international community in recent years.<\/p>\n
At the opening of the session, UN officials, including the President of the General Assembly, highlighted violations of the rights of Afghan women and girls. Extensive restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration on women\u2019s education, employment, and social participation have consistently drawn critical responses from international organizations and remain a central issue in the Geneva discussions.<\/p>\n
