On the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan, Dr. Fazl Mahmood Fazli, former head of the Presidential Affairs Department in the republican system, stated that following this historic event, the lack of political cohesion among the country\u2019s factions caused serious damage to Afghanistan\u2019s fundamental foundations.<\/p>\n
He referred to February 15 (26th of Dalw) as “National Salvation Day,” noting that although the Soviet withdrawal was achieved through the widespread resistance of the Afghan people, subsequent political disputes and internal rivalries paved the way for the weakening of governmental and national structures.<\/p>\n
According to Fazli, in addition to external interventions and the actions of aligned forces, the fragmentation among national groups led to profound harm to the country\u2019s terrain, politics, stability, historical identity, culture, social structure, and governance system.<\/p>\n
Historical accounts show that after the Soviet withdrawal, civil wars and political conflicts caused the destruction of infrastructure, national institutions, and shared values, plunging Afghanistan into a new phase of instability.<\/p>\n
Nearly four decades later, some former republican officials and Afghan citizens believe that the Taliban\u2019s return to power under the Doha Agreement with the United States represents a political imposition on the country\u2019s fate.
