This effort aims to restore water flow to agricultural lands and improve family livelihoods.

According to the agency, these activities are part of long-term support programs focused on empowering local communities. Irrigation canals play a crucial role in supplying water to farmlands in many agricultural areas of Afghanistan, and damage to them can directly affect crop production and farmers’ incomes.

Nangarhar province, located in eastern Afghanistan, is among the regions where a significant portion of the population depends on farming. Restoring irrigation infrastructure in this province can create conditions for increased agricultural yields and reduce families’ economic vulnerability.

WFP has previously stated that alongside emergency aid, it is concentrating on small-scale development projects to help local communities become more resilient to economic and climatic challenges.

WFP aids Nangarhar residents in rebuilding irrigation canals to restore water to farms and enhance livelihoods in eastern Afghanistan.

[7,17

post-6642","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news
["GET
