Iran\u2019s Foreign Minister has emphasized that the country does not seek to acquire nuclear weapons and is pursuing its nuclear program strictly for peaceful purposes. He stated that Iran\u2019s right to uranium enrichment is legitimate and that Tehran does not expect formal recognition of this right but demands respect for it.<\/p>\n
Seyed Abbas Araghchi made these remarks during the National Foreign Policy Congress, highlighting the principle of independence. He noted that one of the fundamental pillars of Iran\u2019s constitution after the revolution is to prevent foreign influence in the country\u2019s major decision-making processes. According to Araghchi, heavy costs have been incurred to advance the peaceful nuclear program, and no external party has the right to dictate the framework of Iran\u2019s capabilities.<\/p>\n
He added that if there are questions or ambiguities regarding enrichment, Iran is ready to respond through diplomatic channels. Araghchi also emphasized that Tehran is not seeking an atomic bomb and takes pride in its ability to withstand pressure from major powers.<\/p>\n
In another part of his speech, the Foreign Minister said Iran\u2019s foreign policy is based on \u201cdignity.\u201d He explained that Iran emphasizes diplomacy on one hand, and on the other, is prepared to defend against any aggression.
