Local sources in Kapisa province report that the Taliban administration has arrested a former soldier in the region. The individual, named Abdulzhahar Entesar, was detained by operatives linked to the Taliban intelligence services.<\/p>\n
On Monday, January 4th, sources told 8am newspaper that Abdulzhahar Entesar was arrested by a man named Amanullah, who is identified as a Taliban infiltrator. This arrest comes amid growing concerns over the targeting and persecution of former military personnel in the province.<\/p>\n
Previously, 8am published a video attributed to Amanullah, in which he discusses a plot to assassinate a student. According to the sources, Amanullah has been involved in several targeted attacks against former soldiers.<\/p>\n
Sources further add that Amanullah simultaneously works as an official in the Taliban\u2019s Counter-Crime Department in the second district of Mahmood Raqi city, the capital of Kapisa province. This raises serious questions about the use of official structures to suppress and eliminate dissenters.<\/p>\n
Since the Taliban\u2019s return to power in Afghanistan, numerous reports have emerged documenting the detention, imprisonment, and in some cases, killings of former soldiers in Kapisa and other provinces.
