This initiative aims to address the growing healthcare needs in these regions.

According to UNHCR, the project’s goal is to alleviate the pressure on existing health services caused by the return of migrants to their home areas—a return that has posed serious challenges to healthcare infrastructure in many locations.

The UNHCR statement highlighted that the Kunar health center, serving as a provincial facility, will provide health services to approximately 150,000 residents, while the centers in Kandahar and Daikundi will each have the capacity to serve about 45,000 people.

Funded by a $3 million humanitarian fund for Afghanistan, the project is expected to benefit more than 240,000 returnees and internally displaced persons with improved healthcare services.

This initiative comes amid ongoing hardships faced by many returning migrants, who lack shelter, healthcare, education, and basic living supplies. These problems are exacerbated as colder weather approaches, posing especially severe risks for children.

UNHCR and Islamic Development Bank will build three health centers in Kunar, Kandahar, and Daikundi to support over 240,000 returnees and displaced Afghans.

[9,17

post-4105","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health","category-important-news
["GET
