This initiative aims to enhance public access to primary healthcare services.

According to the agency, many maternal and child deaths are preventable, and providing active and accessible healthcare services plays a key role in reducing fatalities caused by treatable diseases. The Janat Gul Khan Center is vital for the local residents, particularly women and children.

This comes as Afghanistan’s healthcare system faces serious challenges following the Taliban’s takeover, including shortages of resources, decreased international support, and widespread social restrictions—factors that have made equitable access to medical care, especially for women, more difficult.

International organizations have repeatedly emphasized that investing in healthcare infrastructure is an urgent humanitarian need regardless of the political situation. They also stress that the Taliban administration bears responsibility for ensuring the unhindered operation of health centers and access for all citizens, particularly mothers and children.

UN-Habitat and Japan’s JICA support rebuilding Janat Gul Khan Health Center in Kabul to improve access to primary healthcare, especially for women and children.

[9,17

post-3973","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health","category-important-news
["GET
