The meeting comes as the Taliban, still lacking international recognition, continue efforts to secure support from regional powers such as China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement from the Taliban\u2019s embassy in Beijing, the two sides discussed strengthening political ties, boosting economic and trade cooperation, providing consular services, and other bilateral issues of interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liu Jinsong praised the history of China-Afghanistan relations, reaffirming Beijing\u2019s respect for Afghanistan\u2019s territorial integrity and independence. He also highlighted the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Karimi, for his part, underscored the historical ties between Afghanistan and China and expressed gratitude for China\u2019s humanitarian assistance to earthquake victims in Afghanistan\u2019s eastern provinces.
