Imangali Tasmagambetov, Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), has announced that enhancing security along the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border is a top priority for the alliance. According to him, the initiative is aimed at promoting stability in Central Asia.<\/p>\n
He stated that in the initial phase of the plan, the CSTO will assist in organizing and coordinating a list of weapons, military equipment, and technical tools required for Tajikistan\u2019s border forces. This cooperation will take place among the organization\u2019s member states, with the goal of providing necessary security resources to the Tajik border troops.<\/p>\n
The Taliban administration has yet to respond to this development. Previously, officials from the Taliban government repeatedly claimed that all of Afghanistan\u2019s borders are secure and that no threat emanates from its territory. However, many political and military analysts in the region have warned of a potential rise in security concerns due to the activities of extremist groups along Afghanistan\u2019s northern borders.<\/p>\n
Yusuf Amin Zazi, a military analyst, told reporters that regional coordination among neighboring countries can contribute to achieving broader security. He emphasized that all parties need to cooperate in order to effectively manage shared threats.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States had also expressed support for the CSTO\u2019s plan to establish a security belt along the Afghan border.
