Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro has defiantly responded to increasing threats from the United States, stating that his country is not alone and that no imperial power can silence the voice of Caracas. His remarks come as US President Donald Trump announced the imminent launch of a “ground operation against drug trafficking” in Venezuela.<\/p>\n
Maduro’s comments were delivered just hours after dozens of US citizens staged a protest outside the White House in Washington, D.C., strongly condemning any potential American military intervention in Venezuela’s internal affairs.<\/p>\n
In unveiling the planned ground offensive, President Trump said that the US had moved beyond the stage of \u201capplying pressure\u201d on Venezuela. He also acknowledged that during a brief phone call with President Maduro, he informed him of certain upcoming measures.<\/p>\n
