During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, field challenges, and the need to strengthen international cooperation. The Pakistani special representative did not disclose further details about the meeting, and the UNHCR office in Pakistan has yet to comment.

In recent years, the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has significantly worsened, particularly due to a surge in the deportation of migrants from neighboring countries such as Pakistan and Iran. According to United Nations statistics, more than 6.5 million Afghan migrants have been deported from Pakistan and Iran and returned to Afghanistan since the beginning of 2023. This trend has placed enormous economic and social pressure on Afghan society and has further exacerbated the crisis in the country.

Pakistan’s special envoy meets the new UNHCR chief to discuss Afghanistan’s worsening humanitarian crisis amid rising deportations from Pakistan and Iran.

[17,6

post-25428","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-international
["GET
