This sharp decline from $161.76 million last year is attributed to the suspension of trade following escalating border tensions between the two countries.

According to the latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan, the country’s imports from Afghanistan have also seen a severe decline of 94.4%, falling to approximately $250,000 during the same period. Key trade routes such as Torkham and Chaman have been blocked due to clashes, and efforts to fully resume trade exchanges have so far been unsuccessful.

Data from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry shows that before the border closures, the annual value of Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan exceeded $1 billion, highlighting the significance of the Afghan market for Pakistani exporters. The halt in bilateral trade has not only caused direct financial losses but also negatively impacted Pakistan’s manufacturing sectors, including pharmaceuticals, cement, transportation, and agriculture, due to restricted access to the Afghan market.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s trade deficit with its nine neighboring countries increased to $4.97 billion in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. During this period, Pakistan’s exports to neighboring countries declined by 6.72%, while imports from them rose by 19.79%, signaling broader economic challenges for Pakistan.

Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan dropped over 88% due to border tensions, impacting trade and manufacturing sectors amid rising regional trade deficits.

[7,17

post-25014","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-important-news
["GET
