Representatives of the Hazara political parties, civil society, and social organizations on Wednesday, October 28, held a joint meeting to strongly condemn the ethnic and religious persecution, forced displacement, land seizures, and human rights violations against Hazaras and Shias in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
These representatives stated that the current problems faced by the Hazaras are only a small part of the historical injustices against this community and emphasized that overlooking these issues would mean ignoring the broader human rights violations in the country. They also pointed to restrictions imposed on women and girls, the suppression of civil and political activists, and limitations on media freedom.<\/p>\n
The attendees of the meeting expressed particular concern about the forced displacement of people and the seizure of land and properties in the 9th and 15th police districts of Kabul city and the 4th district of Jalalabad, noting that these actions have had severe negative impacts on the lives of the Hazaras.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the Hazara representatives declared the Taliban regime illegitimate and acknowledged that the group\u2019s rise to power through force and violence cannot grant them popular legitimacy.<\/p>\n
