A number of representatives of Afghan migrants living in Ankara, Turkey, met on November 1 with a delegation from the Taliban administration\u2019s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they raised their problems and requests. The meeting was attended by Saeed Ahmad Banouri, head of the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation office, and Saniullah Farhmand, the Taliban administration\u2019s ambassador to Turkey.<\/p>\n
According to Saeed Ahmad Banouri, the delegation was formed on the orders of the Taliban leadership and based on reports about the situation of migrants in Turkey, in order to review their problems directly and pass them on to the relevant authorities in Afghanistan and Turkey. At the meeting, migrants complained about the high cost of renewing residence permits, the failure to issue visas for patients, difficult conditions in camps, the detention of migrants with residence documents, problems in obtaining identity and health documents, and the soaring prices of airline tickets.<\/p>\n
Representatives also called for the Afghanistan migrant worker office in Turkey to become active so that the process of addressing their problems could be facilitated. Saniullah Farhmand, the Foreign Ministry representative in Turkey, said the Afghan embassy is trying to respond to migrants’ problems as far as possible.<\/p>\n
The head of the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation office added that all the problems raised had been recorded and would be submitted to the responsible authorities in both countries for follow-up.
