The Taliban administration says it has arrested 52 sorcerers in Kabul and several provinces and handed them over to judicial authorities. The body also claims that, during this period, it reviewed 938 cases related to forced marriage, inheritance, dowry, maintenance, kidnapping and divorce as part of its work on women\u2019s sharia rights.<\/p>\n
In addition, more than 2,458 reform and awareness-raising gatherings were held over the past month, signalling increased social control and cultural restrictions. Dozens of media centres and audio and music recording studios were also shut down for failing to comply with sharia principles, a move that has affected media operations.<\/p>\n
The Taliban administration also said it resolved 48 cases of past enmity and 252 family, ethnic and local disputes, although it gave no further details on the mechanisms used to settle the conflicts. The administration claims it collected and destroyed more than 20 tonnes of spoiled and substandard goods from markets, a move that could affect consumer markets.<\/p>\n
