Local sources told the Hasht-e Subh newspaper that the decision was said to be due to the Taliban administration’s inability to maintain security during nighttime hours. It was also added that each gym has cost at least 7 million Afghanis to build, and the reduced operating hours have made it harder for these centres to cover their running costs.<\/p>\n
Despite repeated appeals by residents to local officials to lift the ban, no significant change has so far been seen in the decision.
