Anthony D’Adam said that more than 60% of the Hazara population was killed during these events, while many others were displaced or enslaved.

The motion also records instances of systematic repression, killings, sexual violence, slavery, religious discrimination and the forced displacement of Hazaras in later periods. It also includes attacks by the Islamic State Khorasan Province group against Hazaras in recent years.

The aim of adopting the motion was said to be to commemorate the victims, record the historical suffering of the Hazara people and prevent the organized violence against this community from being forgotten. D’Adam has also called on the Australian federal government to recognise the Hazara genocide at the national level and condemn it.

New South Wales has formally recognised the Hazara genocide and declared September 25 Hazara Black Day in its official records.

[17,6

post-24076","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-international
["GET
