The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan and the Afghanistan Freedom Front have warned of the possibility of organized attacks against diplomatic missions, United Nations offices, international organizations and human rights institutions in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
In a joint statement, the two fronts said they had received information about the possible planning of attacks by individuals inside, or linked to, the security structures of the Taliban administration, in cooperation with extremist networks and some foreign circles. They stressed that this information should be reviewed and verified by independent and credible security institutions.<\/p>\n
According to the two fronts, the possible perpetrators of such attacks may use the name of Islamic State, or aliases, to conceal their identity and objectives. They said the aim of this scenario is to create fear, try to tie the international community to the security structures of the Taliban administration, apply political pressure on countries and international organizations, and divert public attention from Afghanistan\u2019s crises.<\/p>\n
The National Resistance Front and the Afghanistan Freedom Front condemned any attack on diplomatic missions, United Nations offices, humanitarian organizations, human rights institutions and civilian staff, and called on these bodies to review their security measures. They also warned that receipt of security information should not be limited only to channels of the Taliban administration.<\/p>\n
The two fronts called for the creation of an independent mechanism to monitor, document and investigate possible threats. They added that if the involvement of individuals or institutions affiliated with the Taliban administration in planning, facilitating or carrying out such attacks is proven, the perpetrators and instigators should be held accountable both individually and organizationally.<\/p>\n
The warning came after the Taliban administration’s Interior Ministry recently announced the arrest of four members of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan and claimed they had intended to attack the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, or UNAMA, office.
