Higher fuel, energy and food prices are among the effects that have been passed on to everyday life.

According to Irav, citing the BBC, rising household costs and inflationary pressure in recent weeks have become one of the main concerns of American voters, especially ahead of the midterm elections. These reports come as Donald Trump, the US president, tries in election speeches to portray the country’s economic situation as normal.

Higher prices for oil and petroleum products in global markets have pushed up fuel and freight costs in the United States. The New York Times has also reported that bananas, one of the most widely consumed fruits in the country, have become more expensive because of import, transport and refrigeration costs.

According to the newspaper, higher chemical fertiliser prices have also increased the cost of producing and importing agricultural products. Meanwhile, Mark Zandi, an American economist, claimed on the social media platform X that each American family has so far paid an average of $2,000 in war-related costs — a figure he said includes higher energy prices, military expenses and general inflation.

Conservative media close to Trump’s camp have also covered rising costs, but have blamed them more on Democrats’ domestic policies, a decline in the number of refineries and state-level restrictions in the energy sector. These outlets claim state regulations have prevented the United States from fully using its energy capacity.

By contrast, some independent analysts say the main root of the crisis lies in the US war against Iran. According to them, the war and Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz have disrupted regional oil exports and driven up global oil prices, a claim raised in reports on the economic consequences of the war.

Some Western analysts have said that if this situation continues, countries may turn more to alternative energy sources. CNN has also reported that a possible drop in demand for oil in wartime conditions could inadvertently create conditions for the expansion of clean energy.

However, the published reports point to growing economic pressure and political disagreement in the United States. According to these reports, the consequences of a war being fought beyond US borders are now being felt in the daily lives of American citizens through higher costs for energy, freight and food.

US media say the war against Iran is driving up fuel, food and energy costs for American families.

[17,6

post-23882","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-international
["GET
