Afghanistan’s Under-19 cricket team travelled to Oman on Monday to play a series of one-day youth matches against Bangladesh and Oman. These matches are part of Afghanistan’s preparations for the Under-19 Asia Cup, which will be held in November.

According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board, the country’s Under-19 side will face Bangladesh in four matches from October 16 to 23. Afghanistan will then play two matches against Oman’s Under-19 team on October 27 and 30.

The Afghanistan-Bangladesh series was originally scheduled to begin on October 13 with five matches, but visa and logistical issues pushed the start date to October 16 and reduced the number of games to four.

Naseeb Khan, chief executive of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, met the young players before departure and wished them success in the tournament. He urged the players to maintain discipline and sportsmanship and to represent Afghanistan with pride.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board chief executive said the players had been selected through a transparent and fair process after a long period of talent identification and preparation. He expressed hope that the players would be able to represent the country well both on and off the field.

Naseeb Khan also voiced confidence in the team’s ability to compete with strong opponents and urged the players to approach each match with a winning mentality. According to him, the matches against Bangladesh and Oman will provide an important opportunity to gain competitive experience ahead of the Under-19 Asia Cup.

The Under-19 Asia Cup, featuring eight teams from Asian countries, is scheduled to be held in November. Afghanistan’s matches in Oman are part of the team’s preparation plan for the continental tournament.
