According to Al Mayadeen, Yemeni armed forces have continued advancing in Taiz province, while reports have emerged of the complete surrender of several brigades and the laying down of their weapons.

The development comes as fighting has continued in various parts of Yemen in recent weeks and intensified again on Sunday after Saudi-backed forces announced the start of a counteroffensive to retake areas that had recently come under the control of Sana’a forces.

According to the report, Sana’a forces were able in September to take control of Yemen’s western coast up to the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait, a passage important for oil exports.

Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, said Saudi military gatherings and columns at the Al-Qawah camp in the Ras al-Ara area were targeted with several ballistic missiles at dawn today. He claimed the strikes were direct, caused heavy casualties and led to fires in some weapons depots.

At the same time, according to the military official, other Saudi gatherings and columns south of Bab al-Mandab and in the Al-Saqiya and Ras al-Ara areas were also targeted with several ballistic missiles and hit their targets “successfully,” a claim that speaks of “dozens killed and wounded.”

Brigadier General Saree also announced on Wednesday that Yemeni forces had pushed back Saudi forces that were trying to advance toward their positions east of Al-Jawf province. He said the operation was carried out with ballistic missiles and drones, and that the other side had made “no advance.”

Building on these claims, the spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces said the attacks were part of a “continuous response” to Saudi operations and said civilian infrastructure in the provinces of Sana’a, Saada, Taiz, Hajjah and Marib had been targeted during the war.
