{"id":23358,"date":"2026-10-06T13:36:21","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T13:36:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/10\/06\/ocha-18-million-emergency-aid-afghanistan\/"},"modified":"2026-10-06T13:36:21","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T13:36:21","slug":"ocha-18-million-emergency-aid-afghanistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/10\/06\/ocha-18-million-emergency-aid-afghanistan\/","title":{"rendered":"UN says $18 million in emergency aid allocated to Afghanistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says $18 million in emergency funding has been allocated to support aid operations in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>OCHA wrote on the social media platform X today, Tuesday, 14 Mehr, that the money has been allocated to Afghanistan from the UN&#8217;s Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).<\/p>\n<p>According to OCHA, the aid is being announced at a time when 21.9 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian assistance, and only about 31% of the 2026 humanitarian appeal has been funded.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Tom Fletcher, the UN under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, said the allocation of $160 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund had been approved to address 12 underfunded crises.<\/p>\n<p>He added on X that, of this total, $10 million has been set aside to ensure that people with disabilities are not left out of aid.<\/p>\n<p>Fletcher wrote: &#8220;87 million people are to be helped.
