The Taliban-run Foreign Ministry has said Afghan and Iranian officials discussed expanding economic, political and trade ties during a meeting in Tehran, and that the Iranian side raised readiness to cooperate on the Herat-Mazar-e-Sharif railway project.<\/p>\n
According to the ministry, Mohammad Naeem, deputy minister for finance and administration at the Taliban-run Foreign Ministry, met with Hamid Ghanbari, deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, and the two sides discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation and better use of existing opportunities.<\/p>\n
According to the information provided, part of the talks focused on the problems faced by Afghan migrants in Iran, and the two sides discussed easing the visa issuance process and increasing joint cooperation on issues related to migrants.<\/p>\n
The Taliban-run Foreign Ministry quoted Hamid Ghanbari as saying that Iran is also ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in the construction of the Herat-Mazar-e-Sharif railway, mineral extraction and electricity production.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Mohammad Naeem described the expansion of economic relations between the two countries as “important” and stressed joint efforts and cooperation in this area.<\/p>\n
