A Yemeni military source and Ansarullah officials have rejected Saudi Arabia’s claim that Yemeni forces targeted the Taybah power plant in Medina. The source said the allegation was being made to cover up Saudi failures; these remarks could not be independently verified.<\/p>\n
Hizam al-Asad, a member of Ansarullah’s political bureau, said in a message that Saudi Arabia was spreading false claims about holy sites being targeted. He said these claims came after the failure of earlier Saudi plans and added that Yemeni forces are working to protect holy sites.<\/p>\n
The foreign ministry of the Sanaa administration, affiliated with Ansarullah, also condemned the endorsement of the Saudi account by some governments. The ministry said such support for Saudi Arabia in the conflict would not bring Riyadh victory, and called on citizens of Islamic countries to protest what it described as an “insult to Islamic sanctities.”<\/p>\n
Mahdi al-Mashat, head of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, also described Saudi Arabia’s repeated claims that Medina had been targeted as an “unprecedented failure” and said Saudi Arabia would be responsible for any attack on Mecca, Medina and the Prophet’s Mosque.
