Israel\u2019s Foreign Ministry has said it has summoned the charg\u00e9 d’affaires of the Spanish embassy, in a move that comes amid escalating tensions between Tel Aviv and Madrid.<\/p>\n
According to Al Jazeera, the step came after Spain\u2019s youth minister voiced support for the establishment of a Palestinian state \u201cfrom the river to the sea.\u201d<\/p>\n
Relations between Israel and Spain have become significantly strained since the start of Israel\u2019s assault on Gaza. The Spanish government has repeatedly and sharply criticised Tel Aviv\u2019s conduct in the war on several occasions.<\/p>\n
Gaza is a strip on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean that has, in recent months, been the centre of widespread fighting and international reaction.
