The General Directorate of Emirate Companies under the Taliban administration has announced that the harvests of several agricultural products belonging to the Nangarhar Valley Agricultural Company are expected to increase this year compared with last year. The administration said the anticipated rise includes olives, olive oil, citrus fruits and dates, although a decline is forecast in olive pickle production.<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the directorate, a total of 1,284.31 metric tons of olives were collected from olive orchards last year, while the estimated figure for this year is projected at between 1,300 and 1,500 metric tons. Taliban officials said olive oil production will also rise, from 140,315 litres last year to between 143,000 and 165,000 litres this year.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the Taliban administration said olive pickle production will decline unlike other sectors. Based on the figures, olive pickle output will fall from 35 metric tons last year to around 30 metric tons this year.<\/p>\n
The statement added that date harvests will also increase from 19 metric tons last year to 22 metric tons. Citrus orchard output, which was reported at between 5,000 and 5,500 tons in the 1404 solar year, is estimated at 8,623 tons for this year.<\/p>\n
The General Directorate of Emirate Companies said these estimates will materialise only if natural pests do not occur or increase. Nangarhar Valley is considered one of the important agricultural areas in eastern Afghanistan, and its olive and citrus orchards are among the province’s long-standing agricultural projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
