Federal government documents from Germany show that 488 Afghan citizens have been identified for deportation from the country, a move that, according to the same information, includes people more than half of whom have no criminal record.<\/p>\n
German media reported on Saturday, 4 October, that 55% of these individuals have no criminal history. At the same time, seven Afghan nationals are being held in deportation detention at the request of the German federal police, and another Afghan citizen is also in custody to ensure their return to Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
The information was released in the German federal government\u2019s response to a question from Clara B\u00fcnger, a member of parliament from the Left Party. According to the same response, since the centre-right coalition came to power in Germany, a total of 250 Afghan citizens have been deported from the country.<\/p>\n
Alexander Dobrindt, Germany\u2019s interior minister, said at the end of July that the deportation process for Afghan citizens would no longer be limited to criminals and “potentially dangerous individuals”, and that other people deemed subject to deportation would also be returned to Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
