Local officials have said that nine people were arrested in two separate incidents in Herat and Kunar provinces on suspicion of drug trafficking and transporting explosives.<\/p>\n
According to security officials in Herat, police in the province arrested eight people from the third district of Herat city as a result of intelligence-led operations, on suspicion of drug trafficking.<\/p>\n
At the same time, security forces in Kunar province also arrested one person in the Dara-e-Pech district. According to published information, the individual was detained while transporting 68 kilograms of explosive material of the gunpowder type.<\/p>\n
Officials said the material had been skillfully concealed in a Corolla car. They said the cases of the detainees would be handed over to judicial authorities after the investigations are completed.<\/p>\n
