Macron announced on Thursday that France would send military forces, radar systems and defensive equipment to protect energy facilities in the port city of Yanbu on the Red Sea coast. He stressed that the move was solely intended to protect those facilities and did not mean France was entering the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.<\/p>\n
Yanbu is one of Saudi Arabia’s major port cities on the Red Sea coast and is home to part of the country’s energy infrastructure.
