The Taliban administration says the suspect in the killing of two children in Ghorian district of Herat province has been identified and arrested 48 hours after the incident. The case, which came after the children went missing and their bodies were found in the Dasht-e Ghorian area, had sparked widespread concern among local residents.<\/p>\n
Masoud Hosseini, spokesman for the Taliban police command in Herat, said in a video message to Afghanistan International that police had arrested the perpetrator after obtaining clues. He described the motive for the incident as “personal enmity.”<\/p>\n
According to Hosseini, the two children were taken from home by their cousin and later killed in the Dasht-e Ghorian area. He also said that no personal dispute can justify the killing of children.<\/p>\n
At the same time, one relative of the family who had been helping them search for the missing children and distribute missing-person notices was arrested by the Taliban administration. The spokesman for the Taliban police command in Herat did not provide further details about the exact time of the killing or how it happened.<\/p>\n
