The Taliban administration said that a meeting between Maulawi Abdul Kabir, acting minister for refugees and repatriation, and Bruno Lemarquis, deputy head of UNAMA\u2019s humanitarian section, stressed the continuation and expansion of assistance to returning families in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
According to the Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, the UNAMA deputy said the agency has reviewed the situation of returnees in a number of provinces and gathered information on their needs.<\/p>\n
He stressed that addressing the situation of returnees and creating conditions for their settlement requires joint cooperation between UN agencies and the Taliban administration. According to him, UN agencies are currently assisting thousands of needy families, and this process should be expanded.<\/p>\n
The UNAMA deputy also said the international community should pay attention to the needs of the people of Afghanistan, and that UNAMA is ready to cooperate in resolving the problems of returnees.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Maulawi Abdul Kabir expressed appreciation for UN assistance to Afghans and said the Taliban administration has assigned various bodies to address the problems of returnees. He called on aid organizations to continue supporting returning families.<\/p>\n
The Taliban-run acting minister for refugees and repatriation also said a programme is under way to resettle thousands of internally displaced families. He added that the necessary facilities have been provided for UN-affiliated bodies to operate, and that the Taliban administration welcomes UNAMA\u2019s humanitarian cooperation.<\/p>\n
