Reconstruction work has begun on four water supply networks in Parwan province with financial support from UNICEF, a project that could, once completed, ease part of residents’ need for drinking water in the province.<\/p>\n
Balkh News Agency reported on Sunday, Sept. 29, that the networks will be rebuilt in the villages of Qomghi in Sheikh Ali district, Sofikhel in Shinowari district, and in the settlements of Dawlatshahi and Mohajerin in Bagram district.<\/p>\n
According to the report, the projects will cost 7.9 million Afghanis and the reconstruction work is expected to be completed within four months.<\/p>\n
The Taliban administration said that once the networks are completed, 1,156 families will gain access to drinking water.<\/p>\n
The launch of these projects comes as many people in Afghanistan, especially in rural areas, still do not have access to safe drinking water and are forced to travel long distances to obtain clean water.<\/p>\n
Parwan is one of the provinces near Kabul, and some of its districts and villages have in recent years faced shortages of basic services, including access to drinking water.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
