Israeli Army Radio has warned that the continuation of disputes over the budget and the failure to inject billions of additional shekels could limit the army’s ability to keep fighting. According to the Israeli military’s estimates, it is facing a shortfall of about 25 billion shekels, equivalent to $8.2 billion.<\/p>\n
The report says the ongoing shortage of financial resources could lead to the suspension or delay of purchases of essential weapons and ammunition, including interceptor missiles, tank shells, artillery and rockets. Efforts to repair and re-equip tanks and armored personnel carriers, as well as recruitment in some sectors, including the air force, intelligence, technology and logistics, are also at risk.<\/p>\n
Israeli Army Radio also reported that the deployment of the regime’s forces in Lebanon has created fresh logistical pressures, and that the army is not financially prepared for the winter season. According to the outlet, this inability also includes transport routes and equipment needed by troops on the Lebanon front.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the expansion of conflict fronts has increased Israel’s military and financial commitments and placed additional pressure on the public budget. The report says this situation has raised concerns in the Israeli labor market, in addition to increasing debt.<\/p>\n
The cost of Israel’s war in Gaza has also reached about $142 billion, according to regime media, and Haaretz has written that this figure will soon rise to $169 billion. The continuation of military operations has also maintained the ongoing need for troops, equipment, ammunition and supplies.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the dispute between the Israeli military and the Finance Ministry over the amount of funding needed and how it should be provided has deepened. Although Israel’s military budget for 2026 has been increased to about $62 billion, Zionist reports say there is a serious gap between the stated needs and the resources actually made available.<\/p>\n
Israel’s Finance Ministry has accused the regime’s military of budget mismanagement and of spending without financial backing. The crisis has now gone beyond the financial level and turned into a political dispute as well, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meeting opposition leader Yair Lapid over the approval of more funding.<\/p>\n
Alongside the financial crisis, Israel’s media center, citing a senior military official, reported that the regime’s army is also facing a severe manpower crisis. According to the official, the deadlock over legislation extending compulsory military service has pushed the army into a critical stage.<\/p>\n
