Cuba has once again been hit by a nationwide power outage, with authorities saying a complete collapse of the energy grid has plunged the entire island into darkness. The outage has affected more than 9 million residents.<\/p>\n
Cuba\u2019s Energy Ministry said the country\u2019s energy network had completely failed, cutting electricity across the country. According to reports, this is the seventh nationwide blackout in Cuba since the start of this year.<\/p>\n
The report adds that since the end of 2024, Cuba has experienced 12 nationwide blackouts. The repeated outages highlight the severity of the energy crisis in the country.<\/p>\n
A severe fuel shortage, aging infrastructure and the oil embargo imposed on Cuba have been cited as the main causes of the widespread blackout. Earlier, Cuba\u2019s power company said in August that the fuel shortage had placed heavy pressure on the grid.<\/p>\n
