Local officials in Afghanistan’s Nimroz province say seven Afghan migrants, including women and children, have died of severe thirst and hunger in the Saravan area along the Afghanistan-Iran border.<\/p>\n
Mawlawi Nusrat, head of external relations in Nimroz, told Pajhwok news agency that the incident took place in Saravan and that the victims became severely dehydrated and hungry while travelling along the border route.<\/p>\n
According to him, five of the victims were members of one family from Baghlan province, including a woman and four girls aged 14 to 22. He added that these five people died on September 11.<\/p>\n
The head of external relations in Nimroz said the other two victims were two women from the Adraskan district of Herat province, who died in the same area on September 10. He said the bodies of the two women have been transferred.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Hal-e Wesh reported that at least 17 Afghan migrants, including women, men and children, died of severe thirst in the Mak-Sokhteh area of the Rotak border region in Iran’s Saravan county. According to the report, the incident occurred on Thursday, September 10, and the bodies of the victims were later taken to a morgue in Khash.<\/p>\n
Saravan, in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province, is located near the Afghanistan and Pakistan border and is considered one of the main routes used by Afghan migrants, a route on which reports of deaths caused by the harsh conditions of crossing have been published repeatedly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
