A number of Afghan medical students in Pakistan have filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court seeking the cancellation of a recent notification issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, in response to the council\u2019s latest directive. If accepted, the move could prevent disruption to their studies.<\/p>\n
The Islamic Students Association (IJT) said the petition was submitted on behalf of several Afghan students. According to the association, Saifzada Waseem Haider, president of the Islamic Students Association, along with a number of Afghan students from federal medical colleges in Islamabad and the president of the Islamic Students Association Islamabad, appeared before the high court.<\/p>\n
The legal case is being pursued by lawyer Imran Shafiq and his legal team. The move follows protests by Afghan medical students over the directives of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, which they say could make it difficult for them to continue their education.<\/p>\n
The case is of particular importance to a large number of Afghan students, as some are in the final years of their studies and fear that changes in the regulations could affect their academic and professional future. The Islamabad High Court must now decide on the petition.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Lahore and Sindh High Courts had also issued interim orders halting the implementation of some measures against Afghan students in the provinces of Punjab and Sindh.
