{"id":21872,"date":"2026-09-15T09:16:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T09:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/09\/15\/taliban-administration-asks-kyrgyzstan-support-un-security-council\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T09:16:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T09:16:12","slug":"taliban-administration-asks-kyrgyzstan-support-un-security-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/09\/15\/taliban-administration-asks-kyrgyzstan-support-un-security-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Taliban Administration Seeks Kyrgyz Support for Its Position at UN Security Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Taliban administration says Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi asked Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev in a phone call to back the administration\u2019s positions at the United Nations Security Council.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Taliban-run Foreign Ministry, Muttaqi urged Kyrgyzstan to be the \u201cvoice of Afghanistan\u201d in international engagements during its tenure as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.<\/p>\n<p>In a ministry statement, the call took place on Tuesday, Sept. 24, and focused in part on Kyrgyzstan\u2019s election as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the 2027-2028 term. The Taliban administration described the election as an \u201cimportant achievement\u201d and said Muttaqi stressed closer cooperation between Kabul and Bishkek within this framework.<\/p>\n<p>The Taliban administration said the two sides also discussed exchanges of high-level delegations, the holding of regular political meetings, strengthening communication channels and expanding bilateral relations. Economic issues, including trade development, increased investment, implementation of joint projects and regional cooperation, were also part of the call.<\/p>\n<p>Kyrgyzstan is one of the countries of Central Asia, and non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council lasts for two years.
