{"id":21866,"date":"2026-09-15T08:24:29","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T08:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/09\/15\/china-taliban-security-talks-continuing\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T08:24:29","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T08:24:29","slug":"china-taliban-security-talks-continuing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlaspress.news\/en\/2026\/09\/15\/china-taliban-security-talks-continuing\/","title":{"rendered":"China stresses continued security talks with Taliban administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Taliban-run Interior Ministry said that Zhao Xing, China\u2019s ambassador to Afghanistan, stressed the continuation of Beijing\u2019s security talks and cooperation with the Taliban administration during a farewell meeting with Sirajuddin Haqqani.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ministry, the Chinese ambassador described Afghanistan as an important part of the region\u2019s security equations and supported the continuation of these engagements.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the Taliban Interior Ministry\u2019s claim, Sirajuddin Haqqani described Zhao Xing\u2019s role in expanding ties between the Taliban administration and China as \u201cpositive and constructive\u201d during the meeting. The ministry also claimed that security cooperation during the Chinese ambassador\u2019s tenure was one of the main pillars of relations between the two sides.<\/p>\n<p>Zhao Xing also thanked the Taliban Interior Ministry for its cooperation and expressed hope that Beijing\u2019s ties with the Taliban administration would continue after the end of his mission. The meeting came as part of a series of farewell visits by the Chinese ambassador to Taliban officials.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Zhao Xing also held a farewell meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister of the Taliban administration. According to official Taliban sources, that meeting covered the regional situation, political cooperation and the future course of relations between Kabul and Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>Zhao Xing was appointed China\u2019s ambassador to Afghanistan in 2023 and presented his credentials that same year to Mullah Mohammad Hassan, the Taliban administration\u2019s prime minister.
