Reuters has reported that ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell at the start of this week and dropped below the average of the past 10 days.<\/p>\n
According to a review of maritime data cited by Reuters, the number of vessels passing through the waterway at the beginning of the week was below the 10-day average of 14 ships.<\/p>\n
The report comes as Iran’s foreign minister said yesterday that an understanding between Iran and Oman does not mean the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He added that a return to normal conditions in the passage depends on the United States returning to its commitments.<\/p>\n
According to Iran’s foreign minister, if the United States returns to the commitments it, according to him, accepted and signed in the Islamabad memorandum and complies with them, the ground will be prepared for the Strait of Hormuz to return to normal. He also accused the United States of aggressive actions and illegal interference.<\/p>\n
