Ahmed al-Khalili, the Grand Mufti of Oman, has criticised the positions of some Muslim scholars against Yemen’s Houthi movement as fighting in Yemen intensifies again, describing the situation in the country as highly dangerous.<\/p>\n
He said this situation, alongside the ongoing crises in Palestine, Iran and Lebanon, represents one of the major trials and crises facing the Islamic nation. Al-Khalili said Yemen has now become a scene of conflict between brothers, and that this has led to further bloodshed.<\/p>\n
In a message posted on the social media platform X, the Omani mufti expressed hope that Yemenis would return to prudence and cohesion, mend their relations and reunite their country. He also warned that those with malicious intent, or those acting out of ignorance and negligence, should not create the conditions for division and hostility among Yemenis.<\/p>\n
Al-Khalili added that he was also saddened by remarks made by some Muslim scholars, saying that these individuals had taken a stance against a group that, since its emergence, has stood against Israel and worked for the liberation of Islamic holy sites and support for the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n
He stressed that, in the current sensitive circumstances, such positions are inappropriate, and that the Islamic nation should not be distracted by peripheral issues while ignoring what he called the “dangerous occupation.” In his view, scholars should focus on the issue of liberating Islamic holy sites and act before this crisis widens further.<\/p>\n
