The flight carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky from Moldova to Norway was delayed on Tuesday after a drone was spotted and Moldovan airspace was temporarily closed.<\/p>\n
Norway’s prime minister said the plane had \u201ccome close\u201d to a drone as it took off from Moldova. Jonas Gahr Store told public broadcaster NRK that Zelensky’s aircraft was exposed to such a risk as it left Moldova.<\/p>\n
However, the Norwegian prime minister did not explain the source of the information and did not specify how far the drone was from the aircraft.<\/p>\n
A Moldovan government spokesperson said in a statement to Reuters on Wednesday that the Ukrainian president’s flight was allowed to take off after it became clear that a Russian drone had crashed on Moldovan territory.<\/p>\n
Moldovan officials said on Tuesday that two Russian drones had entered the country’s airspace. According to them, one of the drones crashed in a field north of the capital, leaving a fire behind, while the second continued on its route and entered Romanian airspace.<\/p>\n
Zelensky was travelling to Oslo to attend the funeral of the Norwegian king.
