Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said Russia is prepared to act as a mediator to resolve disputes between Tehran and Abu Dhabi if needed.<\/p>\n
According to TASS, Peskov made the remarks at a news conference with Indian media ahead of the BRICS summit in New Delhi. He said Moscow was aware of the disagreements between Iran and the United Arab Emirates and their impact on bilateral ties.<\/p>\n
The Kremlin spokesman expressed hope that Tehran and Abu Dhabi, which he said are among Moscow\u2019s close friends, would get through this sensitive period. He also stressed that Russia opposes any aggressive action in the region and supports strengthening security, mutual trust and cooperation among regional countries.<\/p>\n
In another part of his remarks, Peskov said the impact of regional tensions on BRICS activities had made the process of preparing joint documents, especially the summit\u2019s final statement, more complicated. However, he said he was confident Russian and Indian diplomats could reach balanced formulations acceptable to both countries.<\/p>\n
