The market has 189 shops and, according to officials, was built to better organize the fruit sellers&#8217; market.<\/p>\n<p>According to Aqcha municipality officials, the construction cost was paid from the municipality&#8217;s budget and amounted to more than 42 million Afghanis. Mawlawi Abdul Ghafoor Manteqi, director general of revenues at Aqcha municipality, said the needs of shopkeepers and building standards were taken into account during the implementation of the project.<\/p>\n<p>Qari Mohammad Ismail Rasikh, the governor of Jowzjan, stressed public participation in the reconstruction and development of the country at the opening ceremony of the market. He said Afghanistan is the shared home of all people and its development requires cooperation from everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Several shopkeepers welcomed the creation of the centre and said the new building could provide better conditions for their work and help bring order to the market. The Aqcha fruit market had also been active before, but the previous building, due to age and a lack of facilities, was no longer meeting the needs of shopkeepers and citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Aqcha is one of the districts of Jowzjan province in northern Afghanistan.
