Sharif said the railway could make it easier for Uzbekistan to access Pakistani ports and help expand regional connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides also stressed the need to speed up the implementation of bilateral agreements in the areas of trade, investment and regional connectivity. Pakistani and Uzbek officials have also set a target of raising trade between the two countries to $2 billion by 2029.<\/p>\n<p>The Trans-Afghan railway is a plan to connect Uzbekistan to Pakistan through Afghanistan. The project moved into more serious study and agreement phases around 2018 to 2020.
