The Taliban’s economic commission, headed by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the acting prime minister of the administration, has referred the fifth section of the Herat ring road project in Badghis province back to the procurement commission because of deficiencies in the work of the contracting company, a move that could further delay completion of the infrastructure project.<\/p>\n
According to the Taliban administration, the decision was made at a regular meeting of the economic commission. In a statement, it said the project was sent back because of shortcomings in the performance of the company responsible for the work.<\/p>\n
At the same meeting, a plan to build an eight-storey commercial market in Kabul with an investment of 162 million Afghanis was also approved. The Taliban administration did not say when work would begin or provide further details about the project.<\/p>\n
In addition, a committee has been tasked with separating the activities of cargo and postal service companies in line with the Taliban administration’s existing laws and international standards. The Taliban administration did not release further details on how this decision would be implemented.<\/p>\n
The Herat ring road is considered one of the most important transit routes in western Afghanistan, and parts of it pass through Badghis province; for this reason, any delay in projects related to this route could affect traffic and commercial transport in the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
