The International Crisis Group says the Taliban administration’s policies, especially sweeping restrictions on the rights of women and girls, have isolated Afghanistan on the international stage and that continued isolation could inflict further damage on the country.<\/p>\n
In a report marking the fifth anniversary of the Taliban’s control of Afghanistan, the organisation said Afghanistan’s isolation from the global community has been one of the most significant consequences of the administration’s policies. According to the group, depriving women and girls of their basic rights has not only affected conditions inside the country, but has also triggered widespread opposition to and isolation of the Taliban administration worldwide.<\/p>\n
The International Crisis Group also pointed to tensions in the Taliban administration’s relations with Pakistan, saying clashes between the two sides have nearly halted trade and transit between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The report said this situation has increased economic pressure on Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
The organisation added that Afghanistan’s economic problems have been further worsened by natural disasters and the consequences of the US and Israeli war with Iran. It also said that after five years of Taliban rule, attacks and armed clashes against the administration have increased in some parts of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
