The decision comes as restrictions on education in Afghanistan continue to widen.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a news conference in Kabul on Sunday, 8 Sunbula, Mujahid said some departments at private universities, where teaching is poor according to him, would be shut down in response to questions from journalists. He added that law and political science departments would remain active at public universities and, according to his claim, these fields would receive \u201cmore attention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, it may include those private universities where that section is weak or where teaching is poor [the closure plan]. Public universities are not included; on the contrary, more attention is being given at public universities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The remarks came after an image of a meeting record from the Taliban-run Ministry of Higher Education&#8217;s leadership board was circulated on social media last week. One part of the document said the participants had decided to shut law, political science and international relations faculties at private universities and to stop private teaching in those fields.<\/p>\n<p>The Taliban administration has previously removed some university disciplines from the country&#8217;s educational structure.
